Position Summary

The VP, Operations, A&D is a key member of the A&D business senior leadership team and will have primary responsibility for providing leadership and coordination of the A&D business’ global manufacturing functions. The focus of the role is to lead operational excellence in accordance with CIRCOR Operating System. This role is responsible for providing strategic manufacturing leadership in support of the CIRCOR A&D P&L leaders and to ensure that the business achieves profitable revenue growth and increases market share, develops core manufacturing competencies, and builds a sustainable industry leadership position in strategic global markets.

The VP, Operations for the A&D Group is responsible for global manufacturing operations and requires a “Hands-On” leader to achieve CIRCOR’s objectives. The successful candidate will have significant manufacturing and operations experience, with demonstrated success in driving optimization across several plants globally. This individual will readily understand and translate business goals into strategic operational initiatives.

Principal Activities

  • Maximize plant efficiency, product quality, throughput, delivery performance, profitability and working capital through deployment and execution of the CIRCOR Operating System.
  • Develop and implement process, metrics and accountability to drive improvements across a fragmented manufacturing base.
  • Develop in conjunction with Supply Chain, Sales, Operations, Finance and Engineering goals and objectives consistent with corporate plans. Implement plans and report on progress.
  • Establish goals with specific KPI metrics for: customer satisfaction, quality, throughput, production efficiency, productivity, inventory, safety and employee satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement plans and standard operating procedures in order to minimize manufacturing costs, improve throughput, and effectively utilize all materials, manpower, equipment, materials and capital.
  • Develop operating budgets consistent with goals and objectives and corporate plans.
  • Develop and establish improved controls and reporting systems to provide accurate information as to accomplishments, progress, performance, capabilities in controlling expenditures, savings, etc.
  • Work directly with Continuous Improvement Managers to: eliminate bottle necks, continue lean manufacturing implementation, improve throughput, and reduce inventory.
  • Establish individual performance goals for all manufacturing and support employees. Meet with indirect reports regularly to assess progress in achieving goals. Document performance versus goals as a measurement for merit based increases.
  • Encourage employee team work and innovation. Encourage individual employee involvement by providing opportunities for constructive input and action on viable improvement ideas.
  • Identify training programs for manufacturing and support employees.
  • Ensure safety, environmental housekeeping and cleanliness are at world class levels.
  • Ensure all city, county, state, federal and global regulations are being met.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Administration.  MBA / Advanced degree preferred.
  • 15 years’ experience in lean manufacturing organization.
  • 10 years’ experience in senior leadership position in operations to include Quality Systems, Supply Chain, EH&S, and Production Management.
  • Measurable success with acquisitions, restructuring, consolidations and integration.
  • Thorough understanding of GD&T, machining, fabrication and welding concepts.
  • Some experience in finance, sales, program management or engineering a plus.
  • Effective communicator with all levels of employees (verbal as well as written).
  • Ability to respond to customer inquiries and interact with Sales and Engineering teams.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train and motivate employees in order to balance staffing strength with profitability and growth.
  • Ability to identify, attract and build best in class teams
  • Hands-on computer experience:  MRP, Excel, MS Office.
  • Six Sigma / Lean Certifications a plus
