POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Sr. Engineering Manager is responsible for the Product design and technical leadership of the Corona engineering team to execute Business growth initiatives, components and systems design projects, R&D activities, along with improving effectiveness and efficiency of sustaining engineering and engineering support functions. Primary responsibilities include design of new product, sustaining engineering, new technology research and development and engineering support functions.  This role will report directly to the Site P&L Leader and will collaborate with all of the business organizations in pursuit of CIRCOR’s aggressive growth plans, and in close partnership with the Business Development, PMO (Program Management Office) and Operations areas.  In addition to leading Design Engineering, Test Engineering and Engineering Services, the Sr. Engineering Manager will work with Engineering Leadership at the other Aerospace & Defense sites to plan for the continued success of the company.

 

Principal Activities

  • Support to Bids and New Business Proposals: NRE and Engineering costs estimates, schedules, resources, Technical Requirements Compliance Matrixes, Technical Specification Documents, drawings and additional work and deliverables to enable successful bidding and proposal packages.
  • Review new business opportunities for technical suitability and fit, risk and ensure a cost effective and producible solution is recommended
  • Lead New Product Development Design activities. Oversee all new product introduction programs to ensure technical, cost and schedule adherence to program expectations
  • Develop Strategic Technology Development roadmaps for Products
  • Ensure Design for Manufacturability is evaluated on Product Design
  • Manage and measure performance of Sustaining Engineering for Products in Production
  • Manage the Department Resources and workload allocation. Conduct continuous Talent Management for high performance, driving a healthy and appropriate work environment. Ensure high technical competence of the engineering team is maintained and developed. Mobilizes department personnel to align with scope of engineering programs and ensures adequate staffing/resources
  • Lead and inspire a talented Engineering team on R&D, Sustaining and New Product Development Engineering activities
  • Prepare and Manage the Department’s Annual Budget
  • Support business goals and initiatives as required
  • Develop and maintain clear understanding of engineering program scope, schedule, budget and business-case through detailed review of customer documents and other communications.
  • Ensure Products Compliance with all Industry-related regulations and Certifications
  • Support factory operations at site for productability, diagnostics and improvements
  • Ensure test capabilities are aligned to program and product needs and ensure cost effective and schedule effective utilizations of assets
  • Supports both internal and external Customers and Quality System audits of departmental processes
  • Additional duties related to the management of Engineering Operations as assigned
  • Ensures that AS9100 approved procedures are up to date with latest requirements and are being followed.

Job Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • 3-5 years of engineering management experience.
  • Min 5 years’ experience with Mechanical/Electro-mechanical/Hydraulic Systems and Pneumatic systems/components for Aerospace applications
  • Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation.
  • Strong presentation skills. Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information and ideas in a variety of media. Ability to communicate effectively across mediums, audiences, and situations.
  • Analytical skills and solution-driven thinking; collects and researches data; uses intuition and experience to complement data. Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, experience and judgment.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in development, installation, testing, analysis, certification and design of aerospace components within a cross-functional team environment is preferred
  • Proficiency with fluid and stress analysis tools (i.e. Ansys) considered a plus
  • Strong understanding in Product Lifecycle management.
  • Strong experience in Engineering changes structure
  • Experience with New Product Development phase-gated processes.

 

 Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required.
  • Masters of Science in Engineering desirable.
