POSITION DETAILS

 

Position Summary

The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist is a key member of the CIRCOR Distributed Valves Leadership Team. The EH&S Specialist will have primary site responsibilities for Oklahoma City, OK and may be assigned additional site responsibilities for other CIRCOR locations. This position will ensure all required environmental, health and safety activities are accomplished as required by regulatory or policy requirements.  This position reports directly to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the Functional Leader - Corporate EH&S Director.

 

Principal Activities

  • Maintain and develop the EH&S Management System, including the development of necessary EH&S programs and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines; CIRCOR Corporate EH&S policies, procedures, initiatives; and Industry Best Practices.
  • Ensure compliance and accountability for conformance to the EH&S Program by all site personnel, visitors and contractors through appropriate awareness level and task-specific training
  • Facilitate the Site EH&S Council in support of the EH&S Management System and serve as a technical resource to the EH&S Teams.
  • Work closely with site leadership to ensure continual improvement and compliance with all EH&S activities in support of the EH&S Management System.
  • Drive World-Class EH&S Performance through the implementation of Comprehensive EH&S Inspections &Audits Program and a Robust Incident Investigation Process that ensures the implementation of effective preventive and corrective actions.
  • Oversee the Site Security Process, Security Plan, and Emergency Planning and Response Process.
  • Build and drive a Behavioral-based Safety Culture with a focus on Safety as a Core Value within the Site through resource partnerships in the following areas and activities:

  • Develop and facilitate a site-wide audit and inspection strategy, utilizing both internal and external resources, to identify work hazards and exposures.  Provide oversight and guidance to the Site Audit and Inspections Team to determine trends and action plans for remediation, preventive, and corrective actions.
  • Audit the quality of incident investigations to ensure appropriate root cause and mistake proof solutions are implemented throughout the facility. Advise the leadership team and line management on corrective action and hazard mitigation. Participate in site investigations, as required.
  • Provide regulatory and practical training, as applicable through the development and implementation of a Training and Education Plan. Create new training materials, as required. Train supervisors regarding their EH&S responsibilities, the recognition of hazards and risks, and completion of incident investigations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the completion of hazard assessments, including but not limited to PPE, ergonomic, machine guarding, confined space, fall protection, and process risk assessments.
  • Adheres to company policies and procedures.
  • Manage and coordinate programs for compliance with all applicable local, State and federal regulations.
  • Work with Management to provide guidance and assistance in meeting compliance responsibilities. Ensure workplace conditions comply with applicable local, State and Federal standards.
  • Develop appropriate rules, procedures, and standards that address EH&S risks and hazards.
  • Maintain records and documents in compliance with all regulatory and internal recordkeeping requirements and provide statistical data on safety performance.
  • Prepare and submit regulatory reports, notifications, and communications with regulatory agencies.
  • Create regulatory training programs and procedures.
  • Conduct, facilitate, and accurately document routine audits and inspections.
  • Maintain and facilitate the Site’s EH&S Management of Change process. Support the evaluation of EH&S impacts to the facility, employees, and permits prior to the implementation of change.
  • Drive robust incident investigations to determine root cause utilizing appropriate root cause investigation techniques.
  • Issue safety alerts detailing root cause of accidents/injuries and corrective actions to prevent future occurrences and on high risk behaviors or scenarios that have the potential to cause injuries/accidents.
  • Manage and oversee Worker’s Compensation program to reduce lost-time injuries and implement and effective employee return to work process for work related injuries.
  • Actively manage exposure to occupational hazards and engage management to reduce cost of risk. Recognize and evaluate conditions that are potentially hazardous to employee health, the environment, facilities, equipment, and product to determine root cause and provide corrective action that eliminates repeat occurrences.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement EHS training material and programs.
  • Maintain, track, and report chemicals, their usage, emissions, and compliance with Federal and State regulations. Ensure all require records are prepared and maintained.
  • Provide oversight for the Wastewater Treatment System.

Education&Experience                                                                                                            

  • Preferred candidate should have experience in machining or metal working.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of environmental, health and safety management experience. This position is approximately 75% safety and 25% environmental.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, EHS or business related field with advanced academic and professional training preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Must have experience developing, implementing and managing EH&S plans and programs.
  • Must have manufacturing experience with a strong working knowledge of electrical safety / LOTO, machine guarding, mechanical ventilation, high pressure testing, and ergonomics.
