Position Summary

At CIRCOR, ensuring our operations run smoothly is critical for us to provide our customers with the best products when they want them. For us to ensure the production floor has the materials they need and our customer’s expectations are being met, our material shipments and deliveries must be completed with accuracy and timeliness.  The Material Handler I role is responsible for incoming and outgoing materials and prepares items for internal and/or external customers so they can arrive safely and accurately at the destination to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

Principal Activities

  • Examines materials for defects and sorts them accordingly if defect is found.
  • Attaches identification data onto materials.
  • In Receiving and Warehousing Locations: Unloads, unpacks and verifies incoming materials to packing list, do visual inspection to identify transportation damage, and performs necessary systems transactions.
  • In Shipping Locations: Compares identifying information, counts, weighs, or measures incoming and outgoing materials to verify information against packing lists, bills of lading, commercial invoices, MTR’s, or other records.
  • Prepares materials by stacking or packing them in boxes, crates, or on skids suitable to convey safely and securely to internal and/or external customers.
  • Follows all Quality Assurance procedures and work instructions.
  • Keeps work area neat, clean and organized.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or listen. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. 


Job Requirements


Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Must be able to obtain an in-house forklift certification.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing assembly environment, with additional preference to a valve manufacturing history.
  • Ability to support production needs and identify improvements in production operations and effectively communicate both opportunities and solutions.
  • Ability to work with others to accomplish common goals and make the business successful.
  • Displays flexibility in approach to work scope and daily activities to ensure the site and company meets its production and financial goals.
  • Ability to select and utilize the correct welding procedure for a specific requirement.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, procedures and instructions satisfactorily to successfully perform assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other employees on a variety of topics.
  • Ability to deal with problems through creative solutions.


Education & Experience 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 1 year related material handling related experience and/or training.
