POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician III role is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

 

Principal Activities

  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Installs, programs, or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as programmable controllers.
  • Troubleshoots problems using MDI functions on CNC equipment utilizing OEM equipment.
  • Analyze and diagnose situations throughout the facility (i.e. electrical, mechanical, plumbing, ACHU, etc), using problem solving technics.
  • Lubricates fans, motors and control units.
  • Installs air and water filters in completed assemblies.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Performs basic mechanical and electrical diagnosis and repair of a variety of equipment, including, but not limited to troubleshooting and repair of production machines with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, computers, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatuses, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components (i.e., AC/DC servo drives) of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment (arc and MIG), to cut or join metal parts.
  • Runs and installs electrical conduit, step-down transformers and high-voltage buss plugs.
  • Diagnoses machine problems using VOM, and other diagnostic tools as required.
  • Maintains inventory for maintenance; requisitions parts and materials.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as CNC, lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to assist in troubleshooting problem areas of equipment, respective to machine failures.
  • Maintains equipment history documentation.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

 

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • An AA degree in mechanical, electrical or industrial maintenance.
  • Experience reading and interpreting equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Has working knowledge of electrical systems, including 120, 240, 277 and 480 volts.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing assembly environment, with additional preference to a valve manufacturing history.
  • Ability to support production needs and identify improvements in production operations and effectively communicate both opportunities and solutions.
  • Ability to work with others to accomplish common goals and make the business successful.
  • Displays flexibility in approach to work scope and daily activities to ensure the site and company meets its production and financial goals.
  • Ability to select and utilize the correct welding procedure for a specific requirement.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, procedures and instructions satisfactorily to successfully perform assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other employees on a variety of topics.
  • Ability to deal with problems through creative solutions.

  

Education & Experience

 

  • High school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or
  • Minimum of 4 years of industrial maintenance experience; including some combination of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, some PLC and HVAC experience.
