LOCATION: Hauppauge, NY

DIRECT REPORTING: Jorge Quintana, Pneumatics Supervisor



Position Summary

Primary responsibilities are to perform mill programming and set-up or other assigned tasks on machinery as required. A level III Machinist must be capable of performing independently once properly trained in the business processes. These team members lead the daily production effort by choreographing the production requirements with operator skills. A level III Machinist are the team members who work on the most difficult tasks and resolve the demanding issues. They are viewed as workforce leaders and mentors to their subordinate level machinists.  


Principal activities and responsibilities.

  • Possess a comprehensive background in fundamental machining skills based on planned assignment (CNC mill/lathe, manual mill/lathe or other assigned production area).  Ability to program controllers and modify programs if required by assignment. Mastercam.
  • Possess a comprehensive background in fundamental machining skills required to set up and run multiple machines independently as production schedule demands.
  • Possess a strong background in technical blueprints and required tooling for assigned position.
  • Ability to load CNC programs for assigned work orders (if required).  Possess the technical knowledge to troubleshoot CNC program errors and recommend changes to the manufacturing engineering section.  Possess the technical knowledge to adjust machine offsets and tooling to meet blueprint specifications (tool cutting geometry and insert selection based on that required geometry).
  • Ensure that the job requirements are met prior to beginning production (e.g., possess required tooling, material, gauges, fixtures, etc.).
  • Ability to be designated as a collateral quality inspector with training.  Function as an inspector within the work center.  Strong knowledge of inspection criteria and use of calibration equipment (small hand tools, surface plates, comparators and height gauges).
  • Troubleshoot and create solutions to work floor production problems.
  • Coordinate with other centers (as required) to meet production needs. Senior machinists are responsible for coordinating changes in programs and tooling requirements with the Mechanical Engineering group.
  • Actively assist in the training and mentorship of subordinate position employees utilizing a skills training matrix and standard work instructions.
  • Ability to embrace and implement facility 5S safety policies.
  • Work center advocate for process improvement utilizing “lean” manufacturing techniques.  Ability to learn / utilize RCCA, A3 and other problem solving tools to improve quality and processes.



Job Requirements



Education & Experience


  • Minimum of 10 years experience


  • Minimum of a high school diploma



  • US Persons Only (US citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugee or asylum – all require proper identification and documentation)
  • Physical and Environmental Requirements:  Typical work may require moderate lifting (approximately 50 lbs.
