POSITION DETAILS

 

Position Summary

This role will be critical in executing and managing global strategies for Logistics, where strategic demand is needed across multiple sites and global regions. This position is responsible for developing and managing CIRCOR’s logistics suppliers globally to insure CIRCOR’s requirements are being adhered to, and aligning corporate strategies with regional logistics business objectives.  This role will report directly to the Director of Sourcing. 

Principal Activities

  • Logistics:
    • The Global Logistics and Indirect Manager is accountable for all transportation spend and activities to insure all Business units receive the most efficient and economical transportation of goods, in accordance with governmental regulations of all countries CIRCOR operates in
    • This role will act as a single point of contact for all sites and assist with resolution for any issues and escalations
    • This position manages all strategic supplier relationships and negotiates with carriers' representatives, locally, nationally, and internationally, to obtain optimum rates and service, and drive improvements in key business areas
    • This position is required to apply and utilize their knowledge in freight classification, routing, rates, tracing, expediting and claims for inbound and outbound shipments. Requires strong knowledge of all modes of transportation including LTL, FTL, parcel, marine and air – both domestic and international.
    • Lead freight management processes such as supplier selection, qualification / evaluation, developing statement of work (SOW) & RFP’s, contract negotiations and KPI / business reviews. Will be required to maintain or develop yearly as well as ad-hoc  and new lane RFQ’s and RFI’s and recommend solutions to meet business unit objectives of cost and transit lead times
    • Build models to evaluate supplier capabilities with respect to experience, financial stability, quality, space and capacity to meet CIRCOR growing needs
    • Monitor supplier KPI’s and insure supplier meets all required and agreed upon service level agreements and insure they meet annual budgets / estimates per business requirements
    • Ensure NDA’s, statement of work (SOW) and supplier long term contracts or Master Agreements are properly signed, documented and in place before initiating new business
    • Work with site shipping departments and train site resources on shipping / logistics processes as needed to insure site compliance to agreements and regulations
    • Work with and audit as needed, freight payment audit partners and sites to insure compliance to agreed rates and service levels. Assist in audits and coding rules as required.
    • Works closely with business units and provides escalation support as needed when performance impacts contractual agreements – claims for loss, non-conformance to SLA’s etc
    • Drive continual cost reductions and avoidance initiatives through ad hoc price negotiations, surcharge avoidance etc

 

Job Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of international air / ocean / truck shipping regulations and regulatory environments that affect import and export of industrial products
  • INCO Terms knowledge required
  • Experienced in working with technical / contractual / financial issues, contract negotiations, key performance indicators and metrics, domestic & international shipping / logistics requirements
  • Experience creating and implementing shipping processes, developing process flowmaps and process documentation in support of proposals
  • Industry knowledge and market intelligence to assess trends and recommend solutions to changing landscapes / environment as it relates to logistics
  • Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills
  • Strong analytic skills combined with project planning tracking and organizing skills
  • Excellent communication skills and experience of using different communication channels and methods across different cultures and global regions
  • Ability to use Microsoft suite of products including advanced Excel skills and developing PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership
  • Ability to travel overseas
  • Experienced in managing people including performance management

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (logistics / supply chain management – preferred) required, MBA preferred
  • APICS certification is a plus
  • 5+ years’ experience in competitively sourcing logistics categories both domestically and internationally, managing supplier / carrier relationships and cost management
  • Contract management experience to draft, review and assess terms and conditions for long term contracts and ad hoc contracts
  • Skilled negotiator, ability to think strategically and develop long term commodity road maps in support of business requirements and changing business environments
  • Clear communication style to work with internal stakeholders, suppliers and executive management to drive logistics strategies
