POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The General Maintenance Technician / Test Support will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining production and facility equipment, and provide test support which includes rigging large pumps, piping and pipe fitting to support the site’s business goals and objectives.

Principal Activities

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform highly diversified tasks to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment and machinery. These duties include but are not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of equipment during scheduled downtime. Equipment includes manual and computer numerically controlled machinery.
  • Work with outside vendors/suppliers in the installation, repair, and adjustment of machinery.
  • Record parts and materials used, and order or requisition parts and materials as necessary.
  • Provide test support for large test area. These duties include but are not limited to rigging of pump and large piping, bolting pipe spools together for testing, alignment of pump to test motor, and hydro testing pump.
  • Communicate among work team by documenting actions, and sharing information and knowledge of equipment and processes.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Assists other Technicians in the repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Completes work orders, records, logs and other written or computer-based documents according to established procedures
  • Diagnoses mechanical and electrical problems using technical drawings (e.g., blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics) and diagnostic tools (e.g. multi-meter, laptop) 
  • Operates material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment.  
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment (e.g., pneumatic systems, material handling equipment, hydraulic equipment, dock equipment, electronic and electrical equipment, etc.) according to safety and quality procedures 
  • Maintains inventory of spare parts for critical machines
  • Adheres to all department and company standards, operating procedures and safety requirements while contributing to improvement 
  • May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
  • Ability to work off-shift hours and weekends overtime is required.

Education & Experience 

  • High School diploma or GED, required.
  • 5 + years Mechanical troubleshooting and repair experience.
  • Rigging experience, a plus
  • MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

  • Hearing
  • Ability to push minimum 100 pounds (tool cart); ability to lift minimum 50 pounds (equipment and supplies).
  • Ability to climb ladder and step ladder.
  • Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontally, climbing, walking, etc., as job may require.
