POSITION DETAILS

 

Position Summary

 

The Engineering Director is responsible for all aspects of design engineering for Energy, Distributed Valves. Manages the organization's Product Engineering initiatives and all related activities to design, manufacture, and test components, products and systems   Responsible for the effective utilization of manpower and tasks that support both long-term and short-term business objectives. Will be an influencing leader in other CIRCOR global Business Units with strong emphasis collaborating with China and facilitation of projects utilizing Engineering resources in India. The Engineering Director works in a cross-functional environment with other functional leaders within the business, providing robust support and partnership to Product Management, Sales & Marketing, Quality, Operations, Human Resources and Supply Chain, as well as to other Energy engineering leadership.

 

Principal Activities

  • Manages activities related to product engineering through the development, design and maintenance of products offered.
  • Manages department activities to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
  • Establishes implements and maintains product engineering standards to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Initiates and/or implements corrective action as needed in order to provide a level of customer service necessary to support the achievement of defined corporate and department(s) goals.
  • Develops efficient procedures for strategies of significant projects and international orders.
  • Directs product substitution activities to reduce slow-moving inventory and improve turns.
  • Implements continual process improvement activities to streamline processes to maximize customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction through coordination with other department, i.e., Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and Accounting.
  • Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.
  • Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.
  • Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
  • Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations, and develops recommendations accordingly.

Education & Experience

 

  • A Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from a four-year college or university with a minimum of five (5) to 10 years' related work and five (5) years management experience. A technical degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience in a proven management role in engineering arena in the industrial/oil and gas valve related industry required with preferred experience in a manufacturing environment dealing with representatives and distributors.
