Position Summary

The individual that fills this position will serve as a key member of the team that is responsible for designing the next generation of products for some of the most important ship classes in today’s and tomorrow’s modern US navy.


Principal Activities


The scope of this position is to design and develop new products, or new versions of old products, which our customers value. The primary measure of this position is the success with which our products distinguish us in the market and help achieve increasing goals for revenues, profits and cash flow. The key dimensions of success in this position are speed and effectiveness in:

Engineering Role:

  • Perform mechanical, fluid, vibration, thermal and reliability analyses with guidance from senior staff to support new and existing designs
  • Fabricate prototypes with assistance from junior staff and Engineering Support team
  • Work with internal and external manufacturing partners to ensure producible designs (DFM)
  • Develop test methods and conduct characterization and engineering pre-verification testing
  • Document designs by constructing solid models and drawings with Solid Edge using GD&T and stack-up analyses
  • Address field complaints by determining root cause and implement corrective actions
  • Support sustaining engineering efforts by the timely disposition of non-conforming material and resolve productivity issues with internal and external manufacturing partners
  • Identify and establish new approaches and procedures
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure product quality and performances is achieved.

Job Requirements


Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Must have 3D Cad experience. Preferred Solid Edge or Creo.
  • Must have a working understanding of GD&T dimensioning.
    • Ability to comprehend technical information including drawings, specifications and quality requirements is required.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Knowledge of ERP systems required; Proficiency in MS Office/Word/Excel is required
    • Must be able to meet tight deadlines, be detail oriented and highly organized.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
    • Knowledge of Defense Industry and prior experience with DOD Contractor a plus.
    • Knowledge of pumps, valves and ship systems a plus.
    • Must be a US Citizen to meet US Defense requirements, and must be able to obtain a DOD clearance.

This position may require travel to customers or other company locations up to 10% of the time.


Education & Experience

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 3-7 years’ experience as a Design Engineer in a manufacturing environment.
