BUSINESS:  Pipe Line Engineering

LOCATION:   Catterick

DIRECT REPORTING: Senior Project Manager

FUNCTIONAL REPORTING: 
 

POSITION DETAILS

The Role 

An opportunity has arisen within the Projects Team for a Project Manager.  The Project Manager is to plan, execute, control and finalize projects in strict accordance with the required quality standards, timescales and budgets. This includes acting as the point of contact with client representatives, along with acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-parties in order to deliver projects according to plan.

The Project Manager will report directly to the Senior Project Manager in relation to their normal duties. 

 

Specific responsibilities:

                   Project Management

Create, execute, update and revise project schedules, as appropriate, to meet changing project needs and requirements. Identify resources needed to meet the schedule. 

  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of projects.
  • Review deliverables of assigned projects prior to issuing. 
  • Effectively apply company project management procedures. 
  • Identify, evaluate and manage the Company’s exposure to project risks. 
  • Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.

                     Commercial Management

  • Manage the project budget. Analyse project revenue, margins and profitability, including cost-to-completion projections. 
  • Determine appropriate revenue recognition, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing, along with the monitoring of receivables for projects. 
  • Review project contracts/specifications/terms and conditions. 
  • Identify potential variations to contracts and prepare/submit/negotiate claims for variation orders.                 

 Business Development

  • Assist the Sales team with specific business development activities, including the preparation and presentation of specific project bids and presentations

                     Communication

  • Facilitate team and client meetings effectively. 
  • Prepare and submit/distribute project progress reports, both internally and externally. 
  • Attend client meetings, as requested. 
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to PE’s management team. Identify, investigate, resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.

                   Continuous Improvement 

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change

                     Teamwork

  •  Effectively utilise each team member to his/her fullest potential. 
  • Motivate the team to work together in the most efficient and effective manner. 
  • Keep track of lessons learnt and share those lessons with team members and the wider organisation. 

Job Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in both product design and project management that has been gained in the oil and gas industry, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Task driven with first class project management skills - driven to achieve project schedules and budgets
  • Demonstrable ability to manage contracts from enquiry to close-out.
  • Ability to plan and monitor contracts in terms of quality, time and cost.
  • Computer literate, proficient with ERP systems, Microsoft Project, MS Office packages, CAD systems.
  • An ability to work well under pressure and to demanding cost, quality and time constraints.
  • Ambitious, with a will to succeed and to participate in the team at Pipeline Engineering with a view to successful, profitable growth.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and spend nights away from home.
  • Knowledge of design software packages would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Must have strong, clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

 Education & Experience

Degree/HND/HNC/Apprenticeship qualified in a project management related subject is essential.

  • A Prince 2 Qualification is desirable but in no way essential.
  • Previous experience as a project engineer/manager or project co-ordination is essential.
