POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The Bill of Materials (BOM) Specialist position will be responsible for creating and maintaining a manufacturing product structure and process structure using MRP. You will be responsible for updating item descriptions, and supporting new product item creation. You will work with Plant Engineering, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure that the Bill of Materials is accurate for each piece of product.

 Principal Activities

  • Ability to understand the basics of product components
  • Comply with the company standards and safety regulations
  • Coordinates with Customer Service, Engineering, and Operations with the creation of new part numbers, BOMs, and routings
  • Administer the bill of materials database, including the maintenance of part numbers
  • Preserve the integrity of the parts list by preventing the entry of duplicated parts into the MRP system
  • Perform regular maintenance of the part catalogs for all finished goods ensuring data is relevant to current
  • Assign appropriated billing categories per the structure designed by the Finance department
  • Compare BOMs against provided drawings: reporting errors, making adjustments as needed
  • Analyze and coordinate design changes to ensure that the manufacturing floor, engineering, and all other relevant parties are fully coordinated with the timing and details of the change
  • Support production with the development of standardized routings for new and existing products
  • Validate inventory is back flushed appropriately during manufacturing routings from the correct sub-inventory
  • Assist with physical inventory preparation and execution

 

Job Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Attention to details is essential
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, in written and spoken form, with excellent interpersonal relationship skills
  • Training will be provided to the selected candidate

Education & Experience

  • GCSE Maths and English 
  • Typically requires a minimum level of knowledge that is acquired through a four-year college degree in an applicable field and no previous related experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
