ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

BUSINESS: CIRCOR

LOCATION: Monroe, NC

DIRECT REPORTING: Director of Sales and Global Product Management

FUNCTIONAL REPORTING: Sales

POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

Develops and manages sales activities with prospective and existing distribution customer accounts within a territory. Responsible for sale of industrial pumps and systems ensuring customers are informed of new and existing products, features and benefits, prices, available support systems and services. Develops long-term relationships with growable customer accounts. Acts as “voice of the customer” to the organization. Meets established sales quotas by driving business levels into the distribution channel. Responsibilities may also include the handling of large major accounts whose requirements may be complex, technical, and have long-term completion.



Principal Activities

  • Support distributors in developing business strategies to identify, penetrate and close new business opportunities.
  • Build new relationships and networks with new clients and within existing client organizations
  • Provide technical services to clients relating to use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, Internet Web sites, and other sources.
  • Travel throughout assigned territory to call on existing and prospective customers to seek orders, talks with customers on sales floor and by phone.
  • Provide technical and sales/marketing training to distributors.
  • Conduct on-site surveys in conjunction with distributor efforts.
  • Investigate and resolve customer problems that are not easily remedied by the factory.
  • Review blueprints, plans, and other customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates or projected increases in production from client's use of proposed equipment or services.
  • Propose changes and/or upgrades in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services which would result in cost savings or improvement in customer operations.
  • Develop sales or service proposals and/or contracts for products or services.
  • Quote products, prices and terms & conditions based the standards established by the various businesses.
  • Work in a “customer centric team” concept to build customers solutions
  • Assist Product Management and Business Development with strategies to drive new business.
  • Works with Product Support and Customer Care teams to keep account activities up to date.
  • Develop and manage sales strategies and identifies new market growth opportunities.
  • Prepare reports of business transactions and keeps expense accounts.
  • Attend trade shows.

Job Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

TRAVEL

The individual must be willing to travel 50% of the time, more as needed. Requires a valid driver’s license.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Business Administration, chemistry, engineering, or other science related discipline from a four-year college or university is preferable but not required.  Five or more years related experience in sales is required. Computer literate and able to perform word processing, develop and utilize spreadsheet & database software, and be able to develop written and graphical presentations. Must be willing to learn security, safety, and environmental protocols and use them as specified by Colfax, customers (for entry to their properties) and when included in solicitations, contract specifications and codes.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Foreign language skills are helpful.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to manipulate mathematical concepts commensurate with those used in Engineering.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
