POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

Position Summary Ideal candidate is responsible for managing assigned suppliers to deliver product to meet customer’s demand at the lowest cost and lead-time while managing inventory levels. Drive continuous improvement of key metrics including delivery to customer requirements, cost, lead-time, inventory turns and quality.

Principal Activities

This position is responsible for purchasing materials, equipment, and/or services. Prepares and evaluates supplier quotations and services to determine most competitive solutions based on total cost of ownership. Leads complex sourcing projects and supplier performance reviews, Performs a variety of complicated procurement tasks.
Principal Activities

  • Solicit, analyze and negotiate proposals by elements of cost, in support of T.I.N.A. contracts.
  • Initiate and/or finalize L.T.A.s (Long Term Agreements) with a strategic focus.
  • Reviews specifications and negotiates contracts with suppliers, ensuring high quality materials at the best possible prices balancing material cost savings with schedule compliance.
  • Support Import Compliance adherence
  • Tracks and reviews supplier performance for elements such as service, quality, and On-Time Delivery.
  • Coordinates the buying process with Materials personnel to ensure appropriate levels of inventory.
  • Updates related paperwork and maintains purchasing files.
  • Key member of the New Product team, in support of new product development and roll out.
  • Works closely with Engineering, suppliers, and Sales/Marketing to execute engineering changes.
  • Manages reschedule of delivery dates as required by MRP to maintain a balanced supply/demand schedule on purchased materials.
  • Quick resolution of critical material shortages.
  • Assessment, monitoring and development of supplier quality through surveys, process audits, product evaluation/ inspection at source, root cause corrective actions performance metrics and risk analysis.
  • Evaluate supplier capability and capacity to align product families to appropriate suppliers.
  • Drive supplier process capability improvements through variation reduction, error-proofing, and implementation of statistical process control.
  • Maintain supplier performance management processes and ASL in compliance with AS9100 standard and business needs.
  • Strong leadership / negotiation / communication & decision-making skills • Present program forecast data to suppliers.
  • Conduct quarterly key supplier visits focusing on supplier performance, program forecast data, supplier capacity analysis and cost reductions concepts.
  • Negotiate favourable payment terms and progress billing, while focusing on cash flow management.

 

 

Job Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Education, Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Min 10 years of experience in materials and/or Supply Chain
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Extensive working knowledge of INCO terms, ITAR, EAR, F.A.R. and DFAR principles
  • Understanding/knowledge of CPSR audits and requirements
  • Ability to read/translate blueprints
  • Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong Negotiation skills. Developing / negotiating sub contracts with vendors
  • Working knowledge of MRP and ERP systems, JDE preferred
  • Experience in Kanban & Consignment Inventory Management processes
  • Extensive knowledge of inventory management concepts
  • High ethical standards. Models and supports organization’s goals and values; adapts to changing conditions; demonstrates persistence and overcomes obstacles
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation.

  • Demonstrates aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards including AS9100, ISO and NADCAP
  • Completion of APICS classes a plus
  • Green Belt, Black Belt or Lean certification a plus
