CIRCOR Naval Solutions started in 1897 under Warren Pumps®, following a legacy of pump builders in whose origin span over 200 years in the town of Warren. POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

The main goal of this position is to transfer design intent from customer’s designs and drawings to a manufacturable state that ensures proper flow down of all the customer’s requirements to both manufacturing and quality, through 3D solids models, drawings, assembly sheets, and the ERP system.

 

This position will benefit the organization by improving the speed at which Portland Valve engineering can process contracts. Also, Portland Valve Engineering’s ability to respond to urgent requests from Manufacturing & vendors will improve. The position will play a critical role in the ORP & Virginia Block V programs.  This position will act as a CAD designer which entails drafting & assisting technical contract processing. 

 

Principal Activities

  • Produce solid model and drawings that reproduce design intent from customer drawings.
  • Create ERP information that flows down both design intent and quality notes to the manufacturing environment.
  • Perform GD&T and stack-up analyses
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure product quality and performances is achieved.
  • Ability to create 3D models and dimensional drawings
  • The ability to understand customer requirements and created viable solutions
  • Ensure accurate drawings are created for ORP & Virginia Block V.
  • Ensure accurate solid models are created for CAM programming.
  • Ensure engineering revisions are created & released in a timely manner.
  • Work with Defense Team to create manage and/or create engineering processes.
  • Ensure a strong communication path is created with manufacturing.
  • Completes drawing checks and tolerance stack-ups, and champions the use and application of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.

 

Job Requirements

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Must have 3D Cad experience. Preferred Solid Edge or Creo.
  • Must have a working understanding of GD&T dimensioning.
  • Ability to comprehend technical information including drawings, specifications and quality requirements is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of ERP systems required; Proficiency in MS Office/Word/Excel is required
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines, be detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Knowledge of Defense Industry and prior experience with DOD Contractor a plus.
  • Knowledge of pumps, valves and ship systems a plus.
  • Must be a US Citizen to meet US Defense requirements, and must be able to obtain a DOD clearance.

Education & Experience

  • Associate’s Degree in Mechanical Design or Certificate in CAD/Mechanical Design and GED/H.S. diploma
  • 3-7 years’ experience as a CAD Designer in a manufacturing environment.
