Manufacturing Engineer



LOCATION:  Coimbatore, India

DIRECT REPORTING: Production Manager





Position Summary

The manufacturing engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products.

Principal Activities

  • Provide manufacturing support in the implementation of continuous process improvement and participate in various cost reduction programs.
  • Responsible for developing and releasing accurate routings, tool sheets, operation instructions, etc. to manufacturing.
  • Responsible for equipment utilization and effective methods of manufacturing.
  • Work with design engineers to produce efficient, manufacturable new products.
  • Establish manufacturing costs for new products and submit accurate quotes when required.
  • Develop written proposals with justifications for capital equipment and implement new machine start-up procedures.
  • Program and trouble-shoot various CNC machines.
  • Maintain plant layouts and submit process flow improvements throughout manufacturing areas.
  • Enforce, plant-wide, all safety rules and regulations established as company policy.
  • Work with manufacturing to monitor, measure, and reduce scrap and defects.
  • Use Lean tools to reduce set-up and cycle times.
  • Implement 5S activities in manufacturing.
  • Lead kaizen events to improve flow and achieve operational goals












Job Requirements


Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Familiar with many types of machine and cutting tools and machine shop practices, including programming software..
  • Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
  • Manufacturing Cell Development
  • CAD/CAM systems and CNC programing.
  • Familiar with standard manufacturing concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Self-starter, organized, thorough and meticulous, able to work under pressure.
  • Experience in a technical environment
  • Good communication skills.
  • Able to plan work and commit to meeting deadlines.
  • Dedicated to high degree of accuracy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Excel, and Access software


Education & Experience

  • Diploma/Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Production Engineering or Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 6 to 10 years related experience.
