We are seeking CNC Machinist Apprentices for our facility in Monroe, NC.  As a participant in our apprenticeship program, you will receive classroom training at South Piedmont Community College (tuition and books are paid for by the program) and on-the-job training (OJT) at our facility in Monroe, NC.  Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a Journeyman Certificate from the United States Department of Labor and become part of our internal talent pool for filling CNC machinist positions.  Please see more information below on a great opportunity to join our team!



Position Summary

A 2-Year CNC Apprentice program offered in partnership with the South Piedmont Community College (SPCC).  Participants will receive over 3500 hours of combined classroom and on the job training (OJT):

  • Classroom Training:   480    Hours
  • On the Job Training: 3520  Hours 

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a Journeyman Certificate from the United States Department of Labor and become part of the internal talent pool for filling CNC machinist positions. 

Principal Activities

Successful completion (earning a grade of “B” or higher) of core classroom training topics (sample list shown below):

  • BPR 115- ELC/Fluid Diagrams
  • ISC 112- Industrial Safety
  • MAC 111-Machining Technology 1
  • MAC 151- Machining Calculations
  • MAC 122-CNC Turning
  • MAC 124 CNC Milling

Successful completion of the following on the job (OJT) topics:

  • Safety
  • Communication and Documentation
  • Work Order/Job Process Planning
  • Print Reading
  • Machining (Lathe, Mill, Grinder, VTL)
  • Inspection


Under close supervision and training support, participants will be exposed to the following:

  • Test stands, bearing presses, forklifts, small hand tools, CNC machines, Manual Lathes/Grinders, Lapping, and wash tanks/applications. Parts of all sizes including cases, housing covers, shafts, rotors and all other small parts that make up pumps when assembled.


Job Requirements



  • Lift, pull, and push up to 35 pounds.
  • Continuously, move/walk from one machine too as many as seven utilizing steps and ramps.
  • Physically load and unload parts/pumps.
  • Deburr, scrape or grind parts utilizing a file, scraper, or air operated die grinder.
  • Clean off chips and blow-dry when wet from wash tank.
  • Physically lift and check parts for proper fit.

Education & Experience


  • HS Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform and read complicated mathematics and drawings.
  • Ability to use a variety of precision measuring instruments
